I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure.

I am responding from the perspective of a [patient, parent, family member, caregiver, healthcare professional, researcher, advocate, concerned member of the public, or other].

PERSONALIZE YOUR COMMENT HERE: Tell HHS how wireless radiation has affected you, your child, your family, or someone you care about. You may describe the source and duration of the exposure, health effects experienced, when they began, whether reducing exposure made a difference, and how these experiences have affected daily life. If you are an ally, describe why you support people affected by wireless radiation and why you believe HHS should address this issue.

I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence.

I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health.

Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.

John M. Endres Wireless Technology (EMF) Health Symptoms October 2, 2012 to present (2026) On October 2, 2012 a “smart” water meter was installed at the Biotechnology facility that I worked in. Approx 30 minutes after the “smart” water meter installation, I began to feel ill while working in our office area. My symptoms included: headache, nausea, difficulty focusing on my work, a metallic taste in my mouth, rapid vibration of my temple veins, and painful neck lymph nodes. I left the office area, and walked to my bench in our laboratory area. I stayed in the laboratory for the remainder of my work day. The painful symptoms subsided, and I left the building to go home. When home, I tried to make sense of what happened to me in my office area. I knew that there was a WiFi Repeater on the power cable approximately 15 feet from our office window. Could the WiFi Repeater somehow be interacting with signals from the “smart” water meter? There were over 20 scientists in our facility, but I was the only individual to experience adverse health symptoms. While at home, my symptoms disappeared. I began to document my symptoms. I returned to work the following day and while at my office desk the painful headache and other symptoms returned. I had to leave work and went home, and my symptoms slowly dissipated. Over the next 5 work days, I documented my symptoms at work and tried various shielding methods and finding safe areas (laboratories, break room, etc.). I began researching papers regarding health impacts of man-made electromagnetic fields (EMFs) of wireless technology. I purchased a TENMARS TM-195 3-axis RF Field Strength meter, and EMF protective clothing from Less EMF, Inc. I measured the temperature of my head at various locations. I decided that I would be a “guinea pig” and record and document the EMFs at various locations in our facility. Brief summary of symptoms and measurements from my 5-day study Overall Symptoms while at work: headache, nausea, difficulty concentrating on tasks, shakiness, pain in the back of my neck at the base of my skull, rapid and painful vibration of my temple veins, stomach queasiness, pulse and heart rate variability, left eye pain…

I am responding from the perspective of being a parent, grandparent and great-grandparent. I am also a practicing Registered Nurse/healthcare and patient advocate.

I am always cautious of radiation in any form. I do not allow unnecessary x-rays to be done on my self, including dental. There is a time and place for all procedures and diagnostics. I support people affected by wireless radiation and believe that we need to protect these people and any further damage to them and others. I encourage HHS to be proactive and address this issue. This happened six years ago, after the decease of my wife . Time passed and my daughter (30 y) begin to experiment an increased difficulty to conciliate the sleeping and problems of memory and anxiety without a defined cause. Concerning my person, actually 85 y, my problem is the surge of an increasing pain in brief episodes by the inflammation of my nerved terminations, as if I have needles through my skin, sometimes in a place, sometimes in other, at random. MHe walls of my house were constructed using electro galvanized welded wire mesh between columns, and a type of dried cane weaved, with cement mix by both sides, so I think it functions as a Faraday cage, that attenuates the effects of the electromagnetic emissions from the tower, but do not impede a amount of personal biological damage on our health. It is very difficult to demonstrate those effects since do not exists a medical general inform of each of us before the tower installation, but I have very clear that those symptoms do not exist before the installation and developed after the installation. I am responding from the perspective of a parent and healthcare professional who works with children.

I have personally witnessed children with a variety of diagnosis including ADHD, Autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delay become affected by EMF’s at the home, in school, and in public. Behavior, sleep, attention, etc can all be highly impacted by EMF’s, and we need to protect our children and our future. I have heard from parents who tried to reduce exposure in the home with some successes in children’s regulation, but it is so widespread in public spaces, schools, and even densely populated housing areas (making in-home exposure reduction difficult).

The HHS need to look at current research and continue to increase research into EMF’s and our health as well as regulate the current situation and educate the public. Thank you.

Within a month of the introduction of cell phones, around the early 1990's (Clovis, CA), my husband began having unbearable ringing in his ears. He began having hearing issues and eventually wore progressively more potent hearing aids. Today, he now has a cochlear implant. Meanwhile, as cellphones prolifereated, I developed a heart "flutter", which my cardiologist can't find a reason for. However, when I'm at our home at Lake Tahoe where my computer senses at least 7 wifi systems from the densely packed houses nearby, my ears ring intensely and my heart flutter worsens (to the point of making me cough and or feeling like I'm going to pass out. These symptoms reduce significantly when we are at our house down in the Carson Valley in Nevada, where homes are on acreage and much farther apart. I sincerely believe cell phone towers and their attendant radiation, are causing physical ailments in people.

Thank you for providing US citizens with an opportunity to be heard on the issue of EMFs

I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure.

I am responding from the perspective of an adult how has been at times strongly affected by wireless radiation.

I have to be very careful to how much exposure I receive. I get headaches and it feels like my skin, particularly on my face starts to tingle. My skin gets hot and will progress to actually turning bright red if I don’t remove myself from the area or device. Eventually my heart will start racing and I start tingling all over. It feels like some unseen oppressive force. I have learned racks to keep myself away from the worst of it. I use a flip phone instead of a smart phone and not having it turned on except when I need to make a call.. A router in my house is too strong so I now use a small hotspot and turn my WiFi of frequently and definitely every night. I would like to have wired internet but it’s problematic with my particular home. That’s what I hope to eventually have as it is much safer.
