I am submitting this comment in response to HHS’s Request for Information on Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs), Radiofrequency (RF) Radiation, and Wireless Radiation Exposure.

I am responding from the perspective of a healthcare professional, advocate, concerned member of the public, and citizen suffering from EMF exposure.

I live in an apartment building and directly under my bedroom is the boiler room housing 60 smart meters for all the apartments and for the common areas of the building.

ConEdison continually monitors the smart meters and wakes me up numerous times every night. The EMfF energy causes me to not be able to experience deep restorative sleep; I experience blood pressure, palpitations and sweating during the exposure.

I recently retired from working as a Perdiem pharmacist because appropriate sleep is needed to be able to concentrate, dispense and verify prescriptions. HHS should require the energy companies to limit smart meters monitoring to daytime hours between 8am and 8pm.

I support HHS taking an active role in examining the potential health and environmental effects of wireless radiation. Questions about human health should be addressed by federal agencies with appropriate expertise in medicine, biology, epidemiology, and public health, and the experiences of individuals and families who report being affected should be considered alongside the scientific evidence.

I urge HHS to carefully evaluate these experiences and the scientific evidence, identify gaps in current research, give particular attention to children and other potentially vulnerable populations, and establish appropriate federal research priorities regarding wireless radiation and public health.

I would like to see prescription prescribing data comparing blood pressure med prescribing rates and insomnia medication prescribing rates during 2010 to 2019 before smart meters were installed and 2019 to 2027 after widespread smart meter usage. Guaranteed people are being diagnosed with blood pressure and insomnia that is being triggered by smart meter monitoring at night.

Thank you for providing individuals and families with an opportunity to be heard.
